In celebration of World Cleanup Day in 2023, indie game publisher Secret Mode is thrilled to announce the release of Loddlenaut on November 16th. This unique game focuses on the important task of cleaning up pollution caused by evil megacorporations.

Loddlenaut is a “creature-raising survival game” that takes place on an alien planet. As a player, you’ll have the opportunity to explore an open-world environment, raise your own adorable creatures called loddles, and use a special bubble gun to clean up debris. But that’s not all! You can also recycle trash to create useful upgrades and items, and unlock new gadgets to tackle even the most stubborn ocean pollution.

If you’re unsure whether this cozy adventure filled with pollution-cleaning and creature-raising is right for you, don’t worry! A demo version of Loddlenaut is now available on Steam for both PC and Mac users. It’s a great way to experience the game firsthand and see if it captures your interest.

Originally starting as a thesis project at NYU Game Center in 2019, Loddlenaut has been actively developed by Moon Lagoon since 2020. In this game, you play as an “interstellar custodian” sent to a polluted ocean planet. Your mission is to recycle trash, build purification tools, and upgrade them to effectively clean up the mess. As you work towards restoring the ocean’s health, you’ll gain the trust of the lovable Loddle creatures. They will become your new best friends whom you can name, feed, pet, communicate with, and even watch evolve!

As part of their commitment to cleaning up our oceans, Secret Mode has teamed up with Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) charity and gaming charity SpecialEffect at Develop:Brighton event in July. Together, they organized a beach cleaning activity where over 40 members of the gaming industry collected more than 1500 items of litter, including 203 pieces of plastic. This collaboration highlights the importance of environmental conservation and raises awareness about the issue.

During this year’s event, which took place recently, an astounding 71 million volunteers from 197 countries and territories participated.
