The Pokémon Company has exciting news for all fans! They have announced a special collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Starting from September 28th, there will be a fantastic event taking place, and we can’t wait to find out more about it!
Although we don’t have all the details just yet, The Pokémon Company has released a teaser video that gives us a sneak peek of what to expect. In the video, Pikachu and Eevee are running through a beautiful field of sunflowers with windmills and countryside in the background. Suddenly, the animation transforms into an oil painting style with Vincent Van Gogh’s signature brushstrokes. Pikachu and Eevee notice that the sunflowers have turned into adorable Sunflora Pokémon. We also catch a quick glimpse of Van Gogh’s famous Sunflowers painting, but this time with Sunflora as the main focus.
Wouldn’t it be fun to imagine other Pokémon-Van Gogh mashups? For example, picture Munchlax trying to steal some potatoes from The Potato Eaters painting! And after evolving, Snorlax could take a nap in Arles’ Bedroom after enjoying a carb-loaded meal. Maybe we’ll even see Jirachi and Staryu making guest appearances in The Starry Night painting! Or imagine Van Gogh dressed up as Pinsir-nt in one of his self-portraits.
If you’re like me and love both Pokémon and art, this collaboration is something not to be missed. I actually visited Amsterdam and the Van Gogh Museum earlier this year, but unfortunately, I didn’t know about this upcoming event back then. If I had known about it, I would have definitely tried to plan my trip around it! However, maybe it’s best for my bank account that I didn’t go because I’m sure there will be lots of adorable merchandise available at the museum that would tempt me to spend all my money.
In addition to the museum collaboration, there’s even more exciting news for Pokémon fans. Tomorrow, the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet expansion, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC Part One: The Teal Mask, will be released. So get ready to explore new adventures in the Pokémon world!
